Welcome to Musa Mio Studio, spanish for "My Muse" ~ the euphoria that inspires me to create
I'm a visual artist, I've always been fascinated with pattern and texture.
Born and raised in Southern California along with my 3 brothers, my father, who was born in Mexico, and Mother in Los Angeles, a first generation Mexican American.
Summers were spent camping on the beaches of Baja California in Ensenada Mexico. Day trips into the city were full of color and texture. A road trip from Los Angeles to Acapulco by way of Mexico City when I was 9 yrs. old is unforgettable and tapped into my gypsy spirit.
In art school I studied textile, surface, and interior design. Later I was painting on canvas using different medium. I experience a mystical current I paint.
Travel over the years to different lands and countries has been a springboard for imagination and creativity. I think of my journey as a work in progress.
2013 is dedicated to working on a series titled Cementerios Mexicanos. My husband and I traveled recently to the Yucatan. While there we visited several of these sacred places. I had admired the images prior to going but once there it was a different type of inspiration. I could not get the images out of my mind and knew I had to paint the series. I hope to have it completed in the fall.
I work on commissions, special projects & occasionally give private lessons.
